Testimonials

My family has had to do business with Herr many many times over the last 30 years. I moved out of state nearly a decade ago. Due to the pandemic I am unable to travel home for my uncle's services which was very hard. I called to ask if any virtualization was possible and they made it happen for me. I'm so so appreciative for this; it means the world to me all these miles away.

Krystal M. Henderson

Our family have always used Herr's Funeral Home... Laura was fantastic - Lyle is always great. Even though Ron Hall is in pre-arranging, he made himself available to be with us during the planning.

Judy Griffith

John Schedmerhorn was our arranger and he did a great job. Thank you all very much for everything you all have done for our family.

Christopher Leonard

The staff couldn't have been more professional and understanding, they went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. Lyle was very kind. The staff was very patient with us and all our guests , they tended to all of our needs.

The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Marti (Wilcox) Knecht can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence: One of my favorite Marti memories was her first year as the cheerleading faculty sponsor, 1985 or about that. She invited the Mascoutah varsity cheerleaders to her house for a congratulatory dinner. A three-course meal. (very fancy). Everything was beautiful! Flowers on the table. JV cheerleaders serving the courses.
One catch.
...the menu is in Russian!

Cheerleaders have ordered spaghetti, red sauce, but no fork for the first course. Jello, cake and salad for the second course. A spoon, a knife, and salad dressing for the third course. (Or some similar combination).
Much hilarity.
Good times that last a lifetime.

(Facebook's not just for 7th graders anymore)

And she drew such great, huge spirit signs: GO INDIANS! Awesome penmanship!

I feel like I could write a book detailing her awesomeness!
A wonderful woman and admirable role model.
I'll forever miss me some Marti.

- Amy Harden Beatty, MCHS-ish 87

Marty was such a dear in that she made all the bouquets for my daughter, Melanie's, wedding and also would come and help me decorate my home at Christmas. Marty will be missed. Condolence: Marti is one of those individuals who will never leave your life. Her wonderful laugh, warmth, class, sincere, deep and caring heart, high work ethic and tell-it-like-it-is personality continue on in so many of us! Whenever I needed to talk with someone in the IEA Edwardsville Office, I wouldn't call their direct number. I would call the office hoping I would get Marti, so I could just hear her voice and chat with her. Love you Marti!
