Otis Alfred Joines Jr., 84, unexpectedly passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in his home in Arlington, Texas. He was born on May 25, 1933 in Lorena, Texas.
Joines married his wife of over 61 years, Erna Joines, on November 12, 1955. They had 3 sons born to them: Karl H. Joines, Bobby D. Joines, and Otis Alfred Joines III. He was a loving husband, father, PawPaw, and friend. He will be missed immensely.
Joines honorably served the U.S. Army between 1953 and 1956. In 1967, he completed a Diploma in Religious Education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a fisherman enjoying nature’s beauty. He enjoyed a simple lifestyle and was known for his smile and friendliness.
Joines is survived by his wife, Erna Joines, who he lovingly cared for in their home for a number of years before she was placed in a care facility in October 2016. He regularly visited her at the facility and loved her so much. He is survived by his three sons, Karl H. Joines, Bobby D. Joines, and Otis A. Joines III. He is survived by each of his natural grandchildren: Ashley Pickerill, Marla Peppel, Jason Joines, Blake Joines, Brent Joines, and Jennifer Joines. He is survived by several great grandchildren and two siblings.
