Obituary for Robert Cyriel Van Pamel
Robert Cyriel Van Pamel 76 of rural Houghton Lake, Michigan passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 26, 2017. Robert was born February 7, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Cyriel and Cleta (Hagen) Van Pamel. After graduating high school, Robert honorably served his country in the United States Army. Robert was united in marriage to Ms. Carole Jean Hunter in Detroit on August 1, 1964. After forty-three years of marriage, Carole preceded Robert in death in 2007.
Mr. Van Pamel was a long-time business owner and resident of Houghton Lake. Robert enjoyed spending his free time; fishing, hunting and creating wood working masterpieces for his family to enjoy.
Surviving Robert are his two daughters; Laura Hunter-Mayes of Houghton Lake and Brenda Thompson and husband John also of Houghton Lake, one son, Darrell Van Pamel of Houghton Lake, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two sisters; Pat Miller and husband Ken of Detroit and Gail LaCroix and husband Tom also of Detroit, four brothers; Ray Van Pamel of Utica, Michigan, Roger Van Pamel and wife Lynn of Utica, Bill Van Pamel also of Utica and Jim Van Pamel and wife Terry of Clinton Township, Michigan, many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Mr. Van Pamel also was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Robert Allen Hunter and one sister, Linda Chambers.
A private family memorial service honoring Mr. Van Pamel will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts in memory of Robert may be considered to: Muson Hospice of Grayling.
