Obituary for Earl Z. McClanathan

Earl Z. McClanathan, Jr., 74, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2017 at his home. Born October 21, 1942 in Mercersburg, he was a son of the late Earl and Gladys Thomas McClanathan. Following graduation from James Buchanan High School he served honorably with the US Air Force. Earl was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot for thirty-eight years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of Clarence Armstrong Post 6241 and Harry Lackhove Post 517 American Legion, both in Mercersburg. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and bird watching.

Earl is survived by three children, Jody Myers, Sr. (Diane Keefer) of Chambersburg, Michelle High (Kevin) of Grover, PA, and Gene Myers (Sue) of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Jeremy Gayman (Amanda), Jody Myers, Jr. (Amanda), and Misty Myers (Jeffrey March); and five great-grandchildren, Levi Myers, Waylon March, Jeremy Gayman, Jr., McKenzie Gayman, and Hunter Gayman. He is also survived by two brothers, Marvin McClanathan (Helen) of Chambersburg and David McClanathan (Donna) of Greencastle; and two sisters, Vonnie McClanathan and Linda Musselman (Rick), all of Mercersburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his brother Ronald and his sister, Pauline Cummings.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Monday, October 2, 2017 at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 AM Monday at the funeral home.
