Obituary for Louis J. Matotek

Louis J.  Matotek
Louis J. Matotek, 88, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of October 1, 2017 at Avalon Nursing Home. Born on June 2, 1929 in New Brighton, PA, he was the son of the late Raymond S. and Emilia Kovac Matotek.

Louis retired as a steelworker for Moltrup Steel in Beaver Falls, PA and was always known as a hard worker. He also served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy. Louis enjoyed making model ships.

Louis is survived by his step-children, Helen Katyansky and Michael Katyansky, both of New Castle; brothers, Frank Matotek of Virginia and John Matotek of New Brighton, PA; step-granddaughter, Stephané Elisco; step-great-grandchildren, Joseph and Giovanna Mastropietro; and several nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Scott Matotek, fiancé, Phyllis (Minnie) Katyansky, and brothers, Peter and Stephen Matotek.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites Wednesday morning at the funeral home at 11:45am. A procession will leave the funeral home Wednesday at 12:00pm to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30pm at St. Joseph the Worker Church, officiated by Father William Siple.

Interment will take place in Parkside Cemetery.
