Walter Rutkowski, 92, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at JFK Medical Center in Edison.

Born in New York City, Walter grew up in Jersey City and lived in Scotch Plains before finally settling to Middlesex.

He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Virgin RC Church in Middlesex where he served the church as an usher for several years.

Walter was proud of several accomplishments throughout his life but one of the proudest moments was he founded the Rutko Engraving Systems in Middlesex which was passed down to some of his family members.
He is predeceased by his late wife Maryanne; two sons, Gary and James and 6 siblings.

Surviving are his 10 children; Maryanne Mercurio (Anthony) of Fl., Denise Laviola (Jamian) of Navesink, Walter “Tom” (Madeline) of Fanwood, Mark of Sea Girt, Joseph of Whiting, Robert (Mary) IL., John Joseph (Leslie) of Somers Point and Kenneth (Mary), Richard (Karen) and William (Wendy) all of Middlesex; sister, Caroline Butka of Brick; brother, Richard Rutkowski (Muriel) also of Brick, 23 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

All services at the request of the family are being held privately.
