Obituary for George Pershing Cook Sr.

Frankfort – George Pershing Cook, Sr., age 88, passed away at home Wednesday, October 4, 2017. Graveside Services will be held 2:00 p.m. at Frankfort Cemetery on Friday, October 6, 2017 with Rev. John Sutphin officiating. Military Honors will be observed at the gravesite by the VFW Post 4075. Visitation will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday.

Mr. Cook was born in Frankfort on September 4, 1929 to the late Herndon C. and Ida Mae Devore Cook. He was united in marriage to Wanda Jane Morrison Cook, of Frankfort. He spent the majority of his life working in construction. He was a Korean War Veteran of the United States Army and a member of the VFW Post 4075. He was also a member of Bellview Christian Church. He loved spending time outdoors, especially on the river, boating and fishing, or playing softball and gardening. He also enjoyed bowling and was an avid University of Kentucky sports fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Wanda Trimble (Doug), George Cook, Jr. (Lori), and Rodney Cook; by his sister, Betty Douglas; his grandchildren, Tony Cook, Brad Cook, Josh Trimble and Julie Trimble; and by a special family friend, Greg Nease.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Cook, Brad Cook, Josh Trimble, Doug Trimble, Greg Nease, and David Shufelt.
