My special needs adult son Shawn passed away in January very unexpectedly. The police who came to our home highly recommended Lohman's. They were the most caring, wonderful people I have ever met! Everyone was helpful and took care of everything for me since I had no idea where to begin, and gave me a folder of invaluable information. I recommend this funeral home to anyone who experiences a loss whether unexpected or long awaited. The empathy and sympathy help get us through the worst of the shock

We held my father in law's celebration of life ceremony here and they did an amazing job. Skip and Josh were so kind, patient and helpful. They made a difficult time as easy as possible...

The experience that I had with Lohman when way beyond my expectations. On short notice, they oversaw a Cremated Memorial for my daughter. Family, guests and friends were highly impressed. I would definitely use them again. Seek (Tim) McPadden out. He has a ton of information.

I recently attended "Coping With Colors" at Lohman Funeral Home and had a wonderful time. This event is a brilliant way to help cope with loss as it gives you a couple hours to open your mind to your creative side! Having recently experienced multiple losses in my immediate family, I found this very relaxing! Can't wait to attend another class! I also impressed myself with my adorable Flamingo (who I named Farrah)!

Obituary for Lawrence "Larry" Irving

Lawrence "Larry" Irving
Lawrence "Larry" Irving passed away under the wonderful care of FL Hospital Memorial Hospice and with his family surrounding him on 10-4-2017.
He was born on Feb. 24, 1938 in Hallock, MN to Purdy and Eileen Irving. He and his three younger brothers spent their childhood exploring, having adventures and playing together on the family farm located near Humboldt, MN.
Larry graduated from Hallock High School in 1956 and enlisted in the US Army, where he was an M.P. at Leavenworth, KS.
He married his best friend and soulmate, Diane Chale on August 21, 1965. He worked as a farmer, a heavy equipment operator and a truck driver while he and Diane started their family. Their son, Michael, "Mike", was born in 1967; and their daughter, Stacy followed in 1970.
Larry and Diane's life adventures allowed them to make their home in Hallock, St. Vincent, Pembina and Williston before making their home in West Fargo for over two decades. Larry's main occupation throughout most of his life was that of a professional truck driver. Larry and Diane retired to Ormond Beach, FL in 2009 and Larry recently moved to Holly Hill, FL earlier this year.
Larry enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, when they were little. He shared his loves of hunting and fishing with his wife and kids. He enjoyed cheering on the MN Vikings and the NDSU Bison. Larry was all about "cracking a cold one", telling stories and making everyone laugh.
Larry is survived by his son, Mike (Sheila) Irving, Fargo, ND, his daughter, Stacy (Dan) McDonald, Holly Hill, FL, his grandchildren, Misty (Bill) Peterson, Steven McDonald and Tiffany Irving and his brothers, Doug (Betty) Irving, St. Vincent, MN, Jim (Sandi) Irving, Sun City West, AZ and Ed (Merryl) Irving, Grand Forks, ND and his best friend, Murphy the wonder dog.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Diane, his parents and his granddaughter, Charissa.
A memorial service will be held at a later date when Larry and Diane make their final road trip back to the Red River Valley to be laid to rest. The service information will be communicated as planning occurs.
Final arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. You can view Larry's information and see pictures at www.lohmanfuneralhome.com
