Obituary for Ken Johnston

85 (Retired GM employee) resident of Adam's House passed away Saturday October 7, 2017 at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville with his daughter Diana at his side. Born October 20, 1931 in Oshawa, Ontario. Ken retired after 31 years at as a body man at GM and devoted his time as a trainer starting with the Bowmanville Eagles hockey team and most recently as trainer for the Clarington Green Gaels Junior B lacrosse team. In 2014, Ken was inducted into the Clarington Hall of Fame as an Honorary member through his love and devotion to local sports in Clarington community. After 50 years of taping countless ankles, mending cuts, bruises and broken spirits, Ken finally hung up his scissors & tape this year to devote his time with family while residing in Bobcaygeon. There are many broken hearts today for a man that gave so much, in particular the members of the Clarington Green Gaels Junior B lacrosse family both past and present. Ken did it out pure generosity of heart and we are mourning a man that embodied the Green Gaels spirit of FHPT.

Survived by his daughter Diana and predeceased by son Perry and former wife Barbara (Sellers). Son of the late Vera (Alldread) and Charles Johnston. Survived by sister Dorothy (Hooper) and brother Reg (Janet) Johnston. Predeceased by sisters Viola, Pearl and Wilma. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of life will be announced at a late date. Arrangements entrusted to NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME (905-987-3964). Donations may be made to a charity of your choice or Kawartha Lakes Animal Wellness Society (KLAWS) 4klaws@gmail.com.
