Martha May Sissons, 69, passed away on October 12, 2017 at her home near Coyle. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 16, 2017 at the Coyle Assembly of God Church. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Martha was born on September 28, 1948 in Stillwater, OK to Olys and Vera Boyce of Coyle, OK.
She worked on her parents’ dairy farm growing up as a teenager. She was employed by Central Casket Co. in Guthrie, OK from 1969 to 1977.
On August 17, 1969 she met the love of her life, James Sissons from Oklahoma City and they were married on May 9, 1970 where they lived on an acreage northeast of Edmond, OK from 1970 to 1988. Her and her husband moved to Coyle in 1988 and put in a dairy in 1990. They retired from the dairy in 2008 due to realignment of the highway 33 project. In 2008 her and her husband purchased her dad’s beef cows and ran a cow-calf operation and is still in operation at this time of her death.
She was a member of the Coyle Assembly of God Church in her teenager years. In 1974 she became a member of the Central Assembly of God in Edmond until 1988 where she served in many areas of the church. In 1988 she became a member of the Coyle Assembly of God Church where she served in many capacities until the time of her death.
She loved growing flowers in the garden, sewing and cooking. She always went above and beyond in helping and serving others.
She is preceded in death by her brother Calvin Boyce and her parents Olys and Vera Boyce.
She is survived by her husband James Sissons of the home; son Dwain Sissons and wife Sherra of Coyle, OK; daughter Teresa Moss and husband Justin of Stillwater, OK; grandchildren Coltan and Emily Sissons of Coyle, OK; Cody Moss and Kaitlyn Moss of Stillwater, OK; step grandson Justin Pickard of Coyle, OK; and brother Wayne Boyce, of Coyle, OK.
