Joseph Edward Martin "Red" Roy
AUGUSTA, MAINE
Joseph E. “Red” Roy - age 78, formerly of Capitol Street, died Oct. 13, 2017 at Maine Veterans Home after a brief illness. He was born in Augusta, ME on Aug. 20, 1939 the son of George Francis Roy and Corrine (Dwyer) Roy.
Red was educated in Augusta schools.
He served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957 until 1964.
Red was a member of St. Michael Parish, Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks and Fraternal Order of Eagles and a former member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Surviving are two sisters: Mary Tarbox of Vassalboro, ME and Rose Curtis of Augusta, ME; two brothers: George Henry Roy and his wife Mariette of Augusta, ME and Raymond Roy of Augusta, ME; a special friend, Shawn Michael Peaslee and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit from 9:00-10:30 AM Friday Oct. 20th at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Augusta, ME. Burial with military honors will follow in Holy Family Cemetery, Augusta, ME.
