Obituary for Patricia K Tilsley

Patricia K Tilsley
Patricia K. (Knowles) Tilsley, 87, of Lakewood, Colorado passed on to be with her Creator October 16, 2017
Born in Medicine Lodge (Sun City), Kansas on May 17, 1930, Patricia was the daughter of Frank S. Knowles Jr. and Jennie Naomi (Crane) Knowles.
Pat received her BS Nursing degree at the University of Colorado.
James M. Tilsley married Patricia on December 13, 1952. The two began their life as a married couple first living in Alaska, then Ft. Sill, Oklahoma and finally settling in Colorado where Jim worked for the US Bureau of Reclamation. Pat devoted her time to family, the home and to her church. For more than five and a half decades, she assisted as a nurse, youth counselor and young peoples’ friend at La Foret Camp and Conference Center near Colorado Springs. Known famously as “Aunt Pat”, she aided hundreds of young people in appreciating nature, the ethics of moral living and the love and faith in God. Always available when needed there are few campers under her care who do not know and appreciate her contributions to their lives.

Along with assisting with these camps, Pat also taught Sunday school and worked with youth groups for better than four decades. She was one of the first women elected as Elder in Lakewood Christian Church and later years at Mountair Christian Church. While at Mountair, she continued working with their youth and as a mentor in their Whizkids program for a few years. Never one to stand still, Pat also served as a crossing guard, teacher’s aide and a reader at Green Mountain Elementary School for more than twenty years and also worked as an award winning Avon representative for two and a half decades. “Aunt Pat” was loved, admired and recognized as a continue positive influence on hundreds of young people, adults, friends and family.
