Obituary for Elsie Helen Hessler (Foos)

Elsie Helen Hessler (Foos)
Mrs. Elsie Helen Hessler, of Sacramento, formerly of Lodi, passed away on October 16, 2017, in Sacramento at the age of 90. Mrs. Hessler was born in Gering, Nebraska to Jacob and Molly (Hauff) Foos. As a young girl growing up in Nebraska, she worked hard labor along side her parents in the sugar beet fields enduring (as Mom described it) “Hail the size of snowballs.” Our mother was a loving and devoted homemaker. She enjoyed trying new recipes, while still cooking the traditional German dishes for her family. She was a woman who wore many “hats” as she enjoyed painting, cross stitching, crocheting, sewing, and bird house collecting. She was an avid Bingo player for many years and continued to play during her residency at the nursing facility. Mom loved to dance the polka with our father, LeRoy, and even had dueling accordion sessions with him. Our parents were able to share many years of traveling in their motor home and meeting wonderful people. Their go-to vacation spots were Indio, CA and Port Townsend, WA, where she always claimed to have caught the biggest fish. She loved her family and enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who always put a smile on her face. Mrs. Hessler is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Danny) Lund, of Wilton, CA, Denese (John) Kozina, of Stockton, CA, and Wendy (Dennis) Clark of Galt, CA; grandchildren, Lee (Brittany) Lund, Andrea (Ralph) Garcia, Matthew (Judy) Kozina, Lindsay (Julian) Lopez, Timothy Kozina, Bryan (Lynnsey) Clark and Allison (Scott) Ostrander; 5 great-grandsons, Danny, Jaret, Collin, Alexander, and Hendrik; and 7 great-granddaughters, Madelynn, Haylee, Maryn, Solveig, Zoie, Eva, and Adalyn (yes, GIRL power)!! She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Annie Foos, of Nebraska and Loretta Kenyon, of Escondido, CA. Private graveside services will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Our mom is now with the love of her life (and Kobe, too), and will be spending their 69th wedding anniversary together on October 24th. Wir toasten zu dir!
