Obituary for Elizabeth Madeline Pedersen

Elizabeth Madeline Pedersen
Elizabeth “Betty” Pedersen
October 3, 1918 to October 13, 2017

Betty was born in San Francisco to Elizabeth and James Fenton. She married Robert Pedersen in 1940. they were married for 51 years before his death in 1991. Betty is survived by her three children: Barbara Joliffe, Walt (Janet) Pedersen, Ed (Beth) Pedersen. She leaves six grandchildren: Greg and Mark Joliffe, Stacy and Brandy Pedersen, Amber (Steve) Stevensen and Scott Pedersen. She was beloved by her great grandchildren: Christina Joliffe; Zachary Pedersen; Samantha, Aubrey and Dane Stevenson.

Betty lived her life to the fullest, active in many clubs, organizations and travel groups. She lived in Marin County for nearly thirty years where she particularly enjoyed her Garden and the Garden Clubs. She was a co-founder and charter member of the Berryessa Senior Citizens Center where she served on many committees and frequently as a board member. She and Robert moved to Berryessa Highlands in 1982 to enjoy their retirement on the lake. They had many friends and loved their life at the lake. In 2007 Betty moved to Vacaville to be closer to her family. She quickly became active in the Leisure Town Community, joining the Womens' Group, Garden Club, The Travel Club, The Saturday Club in addition to volunteering in the library and for many other events.

Betty was always willing to go somewhere, help and try new things! She camped every year with her family as recently as last July. She traveled to Hawaii in December where she enjoyed the beaches and wading in the ocean. She loved to dance and her family loved to watch her dance with a good partner! Jigsaw Puzzles, Crosswords and Arts and Crafts all kept her busy. Betty liked to say, “As soon as you stop, you die!” Her goal was to make it to 100 and we're sad at her loss due to cancer at 99, but what a life!

A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. October 25th at Oakmont Funeral Home, 180 E. Monte Vista Avenue in Vacaville.
