Mr. Lawrence “Park” Barnhart, age 68, of the Corn Valley section of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (November 1, 2017) in an Abingdon, Virginia hospital. Born March 8, 1949 in Honaker, Virginia, he was a son of the late Roby Charles and Beatrice McGlothlin Barnhart. He had spent most of his life in the area and was of the Baptist faith. He had formerly been employed as a coal miner and carpenter. A member of the Virginia Bear Hunters’ Association, he enjoyed bear and deer hunting.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Earsel Charles Barnhart, and one sister, Shirley Owens.
Survivors include his wife of forty years, Donna Barnhart of the home; two sons, Wayne Parker Barnhart of Bristol and Adam Scott Barnhart of the home; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Holley, Agnes Marie Stoops, and Cathy Jones all of Honaker; one brother, Billy E. Barnhart and wife, Thelma of Honaker; special friends, Coach Floyd Greer and wife, Mildred; two honorary grandsons, Colt and Gabe Roberts; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Edward Tiller and Rev. Vonley Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow in the McGlothlin Cemetery in Honaker, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Dave Barnhart, Chris Barnhart, Barry Roberts, Nathan Roberts, Eddie Stoops, Anthony Jones, and Carter Mutter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Lambert, Mike McPeck, Dickie Greer, Rodney Roberts, Carol Roberts, and Jerry White.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Saturday at the Honaker Funeral Home, Honaker, Virginia.
