Obituary for Susan Moyer

Susan Moyer
Susan K. Moyer, 53, of Wyomissing, went home to be with the Lord on November 3, 2017.

Born in 1964, in Norristown, PA, Susan was the daughter of the late William R. Moyer and the late Marialice Robey Moyer.

She is survived by her devoted daughters, Sara Sweitzer and Elizabeth Sweitzer, both at home. Being a mother was Susan’s greatest joy and she often shared that making the decision to have children, is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body.

In addition to her daughters, Susan is survived by her sisters and brothers: Kathryn Levy, wife of Thomas Levy, Sinking Spring, PA; Dianne Bucolo, wife of Chris Bucolo, Denver, PA; William R. Moyer III, husband of Sonja Moyer, Bonner Springs, KS; and Thomas Moyer, Ellicott City, MD. Susan is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews: John Levy, William Levy, Kathryn (Bucolo) Hill, Daniel Bucolo, Ning Bucolo, Grant Moyer, Lisa (Moyer) Barron, and Thomas Moyer, Jr.

Susan was a 1982 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School and graduated from Penn State University in 1986, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration of Justice. Susan worked as a Senior Compliance Officer at the County of Berks for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2015.

Susan was proud to be a four-year member of the women’s swim team at Penn State University. After college, she continued with her love of the sport, serving the local swimming community both as a PIAA official and as an officer of the Berks County Swimming Association. Most recently, Susan was inducted into the Berks County Aquatic Hall of Fame.

Susan was a truly remarkable woman; generous, kind, compassionate, loving, and deeply loved. Her acts of kindness and generosity will long be remembered, including her willingness, after her death, to assist with valuable research through the Legacy Gift program at Johns Hopkins University Hospital. Susan’s participation in the Legacy Gift program will enable research into numerous diseases, including Scleroderma.

The family is incredibly thankful for the excellent care Susan has received these many years, including from Dr. David George, locally, and from her team of specialists at Johns Hopkins University Hospital.

There will be a time of visitation Friday evening from 5:30pm-7:30pm at Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading PA 19611.

Additionally, a memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Reamstown Church of God, 400 Pfautz Hill Road, Stevens, PA, with Pastor Tera Karick presiding. There will be a time of visitation at the church beginning one hour prior to the start of the service. Graveside services will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made, in Susan’s memory, to the Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Drive, Suite 105, Danvers, MA 01923 www.scleroderma.org .

Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, is in charge of the arrangements.
