Daniel Eugene Swartz Sr., 75, of Ashland, passed away at his residence, Saturday November 4, 2017, following a short illness.

Daniel was born in Lodi, Ohio on April 30, 1942 and was the son of the late Virgil and Bertha (Gast) Swartz. He had resided in Ashland for the past 36 years moving from West Salem, Ohio.

He was a former employee of the U-Brand Corp and had retired as a cemetery caretaker for 14 years with the Ashland County Memorial Park.

He is a member of the Ashland Church of the Nazarene where he was a member of the adult Sunday School class and would help with ushering duties.

He enjoyed Fishing, playing Wii games and reading his Bible.

On February 6, 1981 he was married to Debra K. Van Meter who survives him. He is also survived by one daughter, Beth Nixon of Wooster and one son, Daniel E. Swartz Jr. of Arizona; and three grandchildren, Taylor, Mary and Damion Nixon.

A memorial service celebrating Daniel’s life, will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ashland Church of the Nazarene with Pastor David Nealey officiating. Friends may visit with the family following the service at the church. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home & Crematory to help defray the expenses.
