Obituary for John Charles "Chuck" Traub

John Charles “Chuck” Traub, 94, of Camp Hill, passed away on Monday November 6, 2017 at the Church of God Home, Carlisle.
Born on August 30, 1923 in Camp Hill, he was the son of the late John Daniel and Alda M. (Simmons) Traub. He was a graduate of Camp Hill High School Class of 1941 and attended the University of Iowa. He was a US Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII. He was a longtime member of the Camp Hill Church of God where he served as Life Elder, Deacon, Trustee, and Church Council President. He taught Sunday School and was a Youth Leader at the church as well as at Church of God Camp Yolijwa. He was a Church Choir member, served on the visitation committees, and heart to heart.
He worked for the Camp Hill Post Office for 40 years. For the last 10 of those years he was Postmaster. He had also worked at Pealer’s Flower Shop, Dupont, and Capital Blue Cross. He was also a Life member of the “Last of the Good Guys”, which is an association founded on a lifetime of friendships of graduates from Camp Hill High School. He belonged to the following organizations: Camp Hill Fire Co., VFW and American Legion, West Shore Lodge # 681 F & AM, Harrisburg Consistory AASR, The Keystonians, and Camp Hill Historical Society. He volunteered at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill Boro Officer, and Church of God Nursing Home. He was also a volunteer at Promised Land State Park.
He is survived by two sons, Thomas N. Traub and his wife Rebecca, of New Cumberland; Tod G. Traub and his wife Joane, of Camp Hill; four grandchildren, Erica Zeigler, John Michael, Laura and Anna. One great grandchild, Lila.
He was preceded in death by his wife Doris (Reed) Traub.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Thursday November 9, 2017 at the Camp Hill Church of God 123 N. 21st St., Camp Hill, PA 17011, with Pastor Jason Cooksie officiating. A viewing will be held in the church on Thursday from 12:30 P.M. until the time of the service. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Camp Hill Cemetery. Myers-Harner Funeral & Cremation Services, Camp Hill, has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Camp Hill Church of God.
