Billy Ray  Jones
Billy Ray Jones, 81, of Cambridge, OH, went to his heavenly home at 1:15am, Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at the Southeastern Medical Center in Cambridge, OH, surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness. He was born in Lumberport, August 27, 1936, a son of the late Harry V. Jones and Alice McKnight Jones. On July 14, 2017, he celebrated his 63rd wedding anniversary with his loving wife, Thelma Vance Jones, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Billy Ray Jones, Jr. and his fiancé Carole Sago, Fairmont, one daughter, Regina Ann Jones Clark and her husband Roger, Cambridge, OH, his grandchildren, Misty Renee Jones Hendershot and her husband Terry, Amanda Marie Clark Larson and her husband Matthew, Brent Thomas Clark and his wife Hannah, Jason Howard Jones, Destiny Rochelle Barker, Alyssa Jones, great-grandchildren, Jaime Nichole Larson, Kaitlyn Larson, Michael Larson, Talon McKinny, Remmington Hamrick, Presslee Hamrick, Leah Faith Hendershot, and Jaxson Ray Clark, who was named after Billy and was born on their 63rd wedding anniversary. Billy is also survived by his siblings, Donald Lee Jones and his wife Dottie, Shara Lee Nay, and one special brother-in-law, Stanley Vance and his wife Frances, and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Shawn Michael Clark and Roger Michael Clark, one brother Franklin Jones, and one sister, Gladys Jones.
Billy was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict era. During his service his deployments included Beirut, Lebanon and Germany. He worked various jobs after his service in the Army. He became a coal miner and after working in several mining locations, he retired from AEP, Martinka Mines, in 1982. Following his retirement, he was employed as a salesman and driver for Whitesides of Cambridge and Cambridge Classic, both being vehicle dealerships. He was a charter member of Jewel City Church in Shinnston, WV, and attended both Trinity Baptist Church and Harvest Bible Chapel in Cambridge. In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and spending time with his loving family.
The family will receive friends at Jewel City Church, 511 Jewel City Blvd, Maulsby Cove, Meadowbrook, WV, from 2-8pm, Saturday and from 1pm until the time of the funeral service at 2pm, Sunday, November 12, with Pastor Roy Clark and Pastor Robert Shingleton. A graveside service will be held at 11am, Monday, November 13, at the Northwood Cemetery in Cambridge, OH. Full military rites will be accorded at the cemetery.
