Obituary for Hugh L. Hudson Jr.

Hugh L. Hudson, Jr, 98-years, died at the Frankfort Medical Center due to injuries sustained in an auto accident on November 9, 2017, in Frankfort. A widower and the husband of his beloved Dorothy were married on July 27, 1937. The son of Hugh L. Hudson, Sr. and Pauline Boorom Hendrick, he was born in New York, New York on April 30, 1919. He was a graduate of Frankfort High School. He also attended Culver Military School and the University of Kentucky.

He worked at the Frankfort State Journal at the outbreak of World War II when he enlisted in the United States Navy. He spent time in the Pacific Theatre on two LSMs at a radioman 2nd class.

Upon his return to Frankfort he co-owned, with his Dorothy, Hudson’s, Inc., a woman’s retail store. He is survived by two devoted children, Dorothy Buchanan (Don) and Hugh L. Hudson III; two grandsons, Stephen Switzer (Megan) and Todd Switzer (Cathy); four great-grandchildren, Matthew, Rachael, Mayme and Ann; and his two cats, Mr. Orange and Boots.

He was a proud member of the Frankfort City School Board for eight-years.

Pallbearers are Phil Yancey, Danny Yancey, Billy Howard, David Mahoney, Bill May, and Kelly May.

Visitation for Mr. Hudson will at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Tuesday 5:00-7:00 PM, and visitation at the First Presbyterian Church on Wednesday 10:00-11:00 AM, with the funeral service at 11:00 AM, followed by interment in the Frankfort Cemetery.

Flowers and contributions to a local charity or to the First Presbyterian Church are welcome.
