Kenneth J. Joyce
Kenneth J. Joyce, 72 Brooklyn - Kenneth Joseph Joyce, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 09, 2017 at his home in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Ken was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 1, 1945 and lived there his entire life. His sister Ginny (Virginia) said when they talked about moving, Ken would always say to her "Brooklyn Born, Brooklyn Bred; Brooklyn Dead!". Ken was the cherished youngest child of the late Herbert (Bert) Joyce and Veronica (Lynch) Joyce. He was the loving and beloved baby brother of Virginia Joyce, Patricia Lass with whom he shared his birthdate, and Donald Joyce. He was a loving brother-in-law of Bill Lass, Charles Coreschi and Kay Joyce, as well as the late Mary Joyce and Walter Seltzer. He was Uncle to many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews as well a wonderful Godfather, and had lovingly become known as"'Unka Dunk" to many of them. Ken was also a treasured grandson, especially to Sarah Lynch who just adored Ken and to whom he was the clear favorite! Ken retired after a long and loyal career from the Veterans Administration having completed 47+ years of service. Ken had a deep love and passion for his family and friends, he was a true gentleman with a huge heart that was so full of love. He was a tremendously "thoughtful man, always remembering and acknowledging (so eloquently as he also had a love for writing) birthdays, anniversaries and other important dates of those he loved. He loved to travel and explore new places and was a kind and gentle soul to all he came in contact with. Ken also had a life long love affair with Wrestling and the WWE - where over the years he periodically got the honor of being a bodyguard and ring escort to many wrestlers. He was also passionate in his love for baseball especially the Brooklyn Cyclones making as many games as possible to cheer on his home team. The Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 10:30 am Thursday November 16,2017 at: St. Patrick's Church 9511 4th Ave, Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY 11209 with a brief service to follow at Greenwood Cemetery Crematorium in Brooklyn, NY. At a later date Kenneth's ashes will be interred at the Family plot with his Beloved Mother, Father and Nanny at Holy Cross Cemetery. Ken we will love and honor your memory always - you will be so greatly missed!
