Obituary for Vreni Leopold Heikkila (Wyss)
Leopold Heikkila, Vreni [Wyss] - With great sadness the family announces the death of Mrs Vreni Leopold Heikkila at the age of 92 years. Mrs Leopold Heikkila passed away on Tuesday November 14, 2017 at the Temiskaming Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Born in Switzerland on August 23, 1925 to the late Arnold Wyss and to the late Martha Jaussi, Mrs Leopold Heikkila came to Canada in 1952 and settled in Coleman Township with her husband Kurt Leopold Sr. Her interests included walking and caring for animals. However her family was everything to her. She enjoyed any time spent with them and was undeniably the best cook. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Her presence will be sorely missed.
Predeceased by her parents; her first husband Kurt Leopold Sr. [1975]; her second husband Lloyd Heikkila [2008]; her son Kurt Leopold Jr. [2012]; her grandson Dean Nielsen; her sister Hilda Moser and by her great-grandson Wyatt Ridley. Vreni is the loving mother of Karin Nielsen, Gunter and his wife Sharon Leopold, Harold and his wife Kathleen Leopold, Margot Sawyerr and of her daughter-in-law Ellen Leopold. Cherished grandmother of Shawn, Sherry (Daren), Kurt, Crystal (Richard), Christopher (Jenelle), Julie (Richard), Atalie (Craig), Mitchell, Melissa and Lindsey. Also surviving are many great-grandchildren; her brother Toni and his wife Hedi Wyss as well as many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place at Lakeview Crematorium, Haileybury. In memorium contributions may be made to P.R.A.T.H. Condolences, contributions and memorial candles may be left at www.buffamleveille.com
