Obituary for Allen Lewis Bohn

Bohn, Allen Lewis
84, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017, in the Harry Hine’s Hospice Center, Wichita, KS. Allen was born to the late Carl and Edith Bohn on November 16, 1933 in Pomeroy, IA. He grew up in Manson, IA. On March 16, 1958 he married the love of his life, Lilah Graber of Washington, IA. He attended Hesston, then Goshen College in 1958 and 1959, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing. For the next 44 years, he worked at Prairie View Mental Health Center in Newton, Kansas with inpatient, partial-hospitalization, and community based programs. He developed a Ten-week workshop for adult children of dysfunctional families. In 2000, Allen became a certified Alcoholism/Drug Addiction Counselor. He was one of the co-founders of the professional association, KADACA (Kansas Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselors Association). He retired in 2007 at age 77. He was an active member of The Unity Church of Wichita for 48 years. Recently, he was instrumental in helping to get Wichita’s only non-profit, community based KSUN RADIO 95.9 off the ground. He also spent his last few years sitting with Riverside Hospice patients. He is survived by his wife Lilah, Son Mike (Liza) Bohn of Kechi, KS, Daughter Amy (Chris) Boaldin of Norman, OK, Granddaughters Alyssa and Natalie Boaldin, and Grandson Desmond Arogancia. Also, Brothers Don (Pat) and Sister Marilyn (Richard) Oberhelman of Manson, IA, as well as his brother Wayne (Lavonne) Bohn of Lewisville, TX. The viewing will be held Monday, November 20, from 4-8 PM at Old Mission Mortuary, 3424 E 21st St N, Wichita, KS 67208. The Celebration of Allen’s Life will be on November 21, at 11AM at the Unity Church of Wichita, 2160 N Oliver Ave, Wichita, KS 67208. Donations in Allen’s honor may be made out to Sunflower Community Action Inc. for the benefit of KSUN Radio 95.9, 1751 N. Ash, Wichita, KS, 67214 or visit Sunfloweract.org by using the Donate/Give to KSUN tabs and adding Allen Bohn in the commentary box.
