Obituary for Waneta May Geiman (McCans)

Waneta May “Neta” Geiman, 100, formerly of Chambersburg, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017, at the home of her daughter, Vickie Lee Wenger. Born September 30, 1917, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Reverend Albert S. and Esther M. (Carmack) McCans. A card shower was held for her on her 100th birthday where all the names of the people who sent cards were read to her.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Chambersburg, where she was a member of the Alda Bowers Sunday School Class for 60 years. She was a former member of the St. Thomas Sportsman’s Club and a dedicated Baltimore Orioles Fan. A homemaker, Mrs. Geiman also worked at the Stanley Co. for 20 years and the former H. J. Heinz Co., both in Chambersburg.

A loving and devoted mother and grandma, she will be missed by her son Gary Geiman and wife Brenda (Klutas) of St. Thomas and her daughter, Vickie Lee Wenger and husband Ronald of Chambersburg. She truly enjoyed her six grandchildren, Trena Rae (Geiman) Durff of Shippesnburg, Gena Rae (Geiman) Stouffer and husband Andrew of Chambersburg, Angel Marie Adkins of Shippensburg, Christian Wenger and wife Jenn (Short) of Chambersburg, Heather Gates and husband Denny of Waynesboro, Ashley Wenger of Chambersburg,. She had six great-grandchildren, Grant, Halie, Courtney, Brionna, Jaiden and Wyatt.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Dr. Dianne Salter will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment at Norland Cemetery will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alda Bowers Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church, 225 S. Second St., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to SpiriTrust Lutheran Homecare & Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
