Obituary for Mary Lou McKnight (Evans)

Mary Lou McKnight (Evans)
MARY LOU McKNIGHT 79, of Sutherlin, Oregon passed away peacefully Friday, November 17, 2017 from Parkinson’s disease. She was born August 12, 1938 in Covington, Kentucky to Walt and Edith (Smith) Evans. Mary Lou graduated from Ludlow High School, Ludlow, Kentucky in 1956. She married Stan McKnight, her high school sweetheart, on October 7, 1958 in Kaiserslaughter, Germany while Stan was in the Army. Mary Lou loved to travel, and was fortunate to travel to most of the United States, numerous countries in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Mary Lou was a registered nurse at Mercy Medical Center for 35 years, working nights most of those years. While working, she also raised 4 kids. She never missed any of her kids’ activities and not too many of her grandchildren’s activities. Mary Lou even went to her oldest son’s basketball game before going to the hospital to have her youngest son. She was a wonderful mom and grandma as she was a natural caregiver and nurturer. The one thing her family will miss the most is just talking with her. Survivors include her husband Stan; her four children David (Laura) of Grand Junction, Colorado; Pam (Don) Mosley; Scott; Todd (Tracie) of Sutherlin, Oregon; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; sisters Carol Robertson of Riverside, California and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a celebration of life, Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 3:00 PM in the Sutherlin Community Building, 126 E Central Avenue, Sutherlin. Please bring your stories and wear bright colors. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st, Ste. 800, Miami, FL 33131. She will always be missed and remain forever in the hearts of her family.
