Obituary for Charles J "Chuck" Faisst Sr,

Charles J "Chuck" Faisst Sr,
Charles “Chuck” James Faisst Sr., age 69, of Mays Landing, passed away suddenly on November 20th, 2017. Chuck was born and raised in Pleasantville, NJ where he developed a love of racing cars. At age 16 he built his first race car and by age 18 was racing at Pleasantville Speedway. Soon after, he enlisted in the USAF with the 177th Fighter Wing as an Airman First Class. He served our country proudly for 4 years and was a Vietnam Vet . After serving our country, he went on to serve our community. Chuck joined the Pleasantville Police Department, then went on to retire from Northfield Police Department as a Detective, putting in over 25 years of service. After retirement, Chuck went to work again with the Hamilton Township Public Works as a supervisor of fleet maintenance He retired from his second career after 16 years. He was also a member of the NJ Forest Fire Service and owned his own firetruck for many years.

He was a supportive, loving, and caring husband, father and pop-pop. He was happily married for 39 years, then widowed in 2009 to Linda, with whom he had two loving children. Chuck built his own log home and was usually found working in the yard or in his garage on his race car. He raced and spectated at Bridgeport Speedway off and on for over 30 years with his friends. He loved spending time with his family, eating at Allen's Clam Bar, shopping at Cabela's and watching football. Chuck enjoyed fishing on his boat in the summer and looked forward to deer hunting season every year. He snow plowed for local businesses for many years and was always just a phone call away for anyone in need.

He is so loved and will be missed by many people, as he was an upstanding man; a giving, loyal and loving friend who would give you the shirt off his back. He was a very proud father and pop-pop and if he was not with his family, he was bragging about them. His hugs, jokes and steadfastness will be terribly missed.

He is predeceased by his wife Linda, parents Charles Faisst and Doris Lowenstein; step-father Jack Lowenstein. He is survived by his loving children, Caren (Bill) Darnae, CJ (Melissa) Faisst; well loved grandchildren, Kayla, Sylvia, Ella, Lincoln and Lyla; Nydair Ellis who was like a second son to him; supportive brothers Ron and Joe Faisst; wonderful Sister-in-law Penny Baker; girlfriend Linda Jayne as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
