Martha Davies Boyle Mangels
Resident of San Ramon
July 13, 1933-Nov. 20, 2017
Marty Mangels passed away peacefully at home after a valiant battle with bladder cancer. She touched many lives with her upbeat and matter of fact outlook on life.
Marty was born in Galveston, TX., to her parents Major General James H. Davies, USAF, Ret., and Ethel (MAC) Macgregor of Piedmont, CA.
Being a fledgling growing up she moved every 2 years, and lived in all the bottom southern states in the U.S. She graduated from Dominican Convent High School, San Rafael, CA., in 1952, Stephens College in Columbia, MO., in 1954, and Touro School of Nursing in 1957. After graduation she took a trip with her Auntie Charlotte to China for a month aboard the president Wilson. In 1958 she moved to Oakland, CA to work at Peralta/Meritt hospital as a Registered Nurse for 35 years until retiring in 1995.
Marty married her first husband Stephen F. Boyle May 31 1965, until his death in 1990.
Steve and Marty moved to San Ramon in 1968, after their only child Steve Boyle was born and she lived there until her death in 2017.
Marty married her second husband George H. Mangels, April 15, 2005 until his death in 2015.
She enjoyed traveling, gambling at casinos, playing games, bingo, dominoes, bridge, bowling, and golf, she even got a hole in one on the 7th hole par 3 at the San Ramon Golf Club.
She was a long time member of Newcomers, and St. Clare’s Episcopal Church.
Marty is preceded in death by her parents. Major General James H. Davies, USAF, Ret., and Ethel (MAC) Macgregor Davies(Napa), her sister Anne Lucas Maddox(Red Bluff), her first husband Stephen F. Boyle(San Ramon), and second husband George H. Mangels(San Ramon). She is survived by her son Steve Boyle, and her 3 grandchildren Ryan Boyle, Austin Boyle, and Chloe Boyle(San Ramon).
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Friday December 22, 2017 at 2:00pm at St. Clare’s Episcopal Church 3350 Hopyard Road, Pleasanton, CA 94588.
