Condolence: Derek was a very good friend towards the later part of his life when we first met.
He taught me to slate the proper way and not cut corners or slate like a cowboy! He was patient at times(with me) but had no time for people goofing off or disrespecting the trade.At 70yrs old he was still climbing on the roof and doing his bit, he loved the trade.
We weekly called each other and discussed the problems with our footy teams, he was very very knowledgeable about his Man Utd and had ultimate respect for the other teams, more so the northern teams (except Liverpool lol), I even tried to convince him multiple times to come over to the blue side of Manchester when his team was playing crap.
He was a good man, he talked a lot about his grand kids to me and how proud he was.
He will be sadly missed and it will leave a hole in my heart as I looked forward to our week footy chat.RIP Derek
PS By the way my Aunts roof is starting to leak in Denbigh, Wales, you roofed it about 40+yrs ago lol
