Obituary for Fernand R. "Fred" Gosselin

Fernand R. "Fred" Gosselin
Fernand R. Gosselin (Fred), went home to his Lord on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the Meriden Center. Fred was born in Meriden on September 30, 1930, the beloved son of the late Omer and Alma (Fournier) Gosselin. He graduated from St. Laurent School and attended Jefferson Junior High School. He enlisted in the US Navy and served as a Fireman. He was honorably discharged in February of 1949. He was employed by the American Cyanamid for many years, retiring at the age of sixty-two. He married his beloved “Alice” on September 13, 1958 at St. Rose Parish.
He is survived by his devoted sons, Thomas and daughter-in-law, Linda of Southington and Philip and his wife Alice of East Hartford, ; his granddaughter, Molly May and grandson Clint Gosselin, both of East Hartford; his beloved sisters, Rachel Deming of Meriden and Sue Avellino of Schenectady, New York. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved brothers, Paul and Lionel (Lou) Gosselin. Fred was a devoted husband and father. A very kind man. He will be missed deeply by all who knew him.
The funeral will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden and at 11 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday morning prior to the service from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Fred’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Wing 200 staff, who cared for Fred and gave him wonderful care and medical treatment. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center Street, Meriden, CT 06450.
