Obituary for Kelly Joe Barnett

Kelly Joe  Barnett
Kelly J. Barnett, 88, passed away peacefully Friday, November 24, 2017. He was born in Muleshoe, Texas to Pat and Jesssie Barnett in 1929.
Graveside service: Monday at Annetta Cemetery, Farm Rd. 5, 2936 N. Oneal Ave., Annetta, 2:00 pm.
Kelly ran the Parker County Airport for 22 years. Flying, horses, and baseball were his passion. He played semi-pro baseball after he graduated from high school, then got into rodeos and rode the circuit calf roping, then steer roping and team roping, and later got into horse racing and cutting horse competition. He also had the stockyards in Mineral Wells, cotton gins in Perrin and Matador, and a bearing manufacturing plant in Royce City.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Beth Barnett; daughters; Charlotte McCurtain (David), Marilyn Barnett (Earl), and Cordelia Sickels (Jim), son; Marty Barnett; step daughters, Shannon Knipe (Dorothy), and Zane Brock (Ronnie); 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
