Obituary for Harry Mohn

On Saturday, November 25, 2017, Harry Mohn passed away peacefully at Stonebrook Village in Windsor Locks, attended by his loyal and caring nurse’s aid, Rudy Boakye of Heaven’s Hands.

Harry recently celebrated his 85th birthday at Stonebrook Village.

Although for most of his life Harry lived in Windsor Locks, he was born in East Windsor, son of Harry Mohn and Sara Havey Mohn, attended local schools there, high school at Ellsworth Memorial in South Windsor, and graduated from the University of Connecticut. Thereupon, he went to work at the Factory Insurance Association.

In 1954, Harry joined the United States Army, and after training he served in the Army of Occupation in Germany, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Later he served in the Headquarters Company 10th Special Forces.

Harry is survived by his sister, Harriet Muska; his niece, Susan Muska; his nephew, David Muska; his grand-nephew, Trevor Muska; his grand-niece, Logan Muska; and many wonderful cousins.

Harry, a kind and good man, had many friends.

He so enjoyed his golfing games with good friend and cousin Jim MacDonald of South Windsor, his Sunday telephone conversations with boyhood friend Ted Wuskell, now of Bushnell, Florida, and his years of aerobic walking with Beverly Fraley and Carolyn Levesque, faithful friends Lori and Larry Biladueu of Enfield, Bill Fischer of West Hartford, Marianne Sadowski of Windsor Locks, and Heather Sweatt, his former OT who remained a good friend and help to Harry and family. These are but a few.

Family wishes to express great gratitude to the very caring and supportive staff at Stonebrook Village. Heartfelt thanks to Heaven’s Hands for their caring support 24/7 to Harry, and to Masonicare for the comfort and direction given to Harry in his final days in Hospice.
