Obituary for Gloria Ann Handy (Miller)
Gloria Ann Handy, daughter of the late Brodus Miller, Sr. and Mattie Williams Miller, was born on October 17, 1957 in Atlantic, Virginia. She peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 27, 2017.
Gloria was educated in the public schools of Accomack County and was a 1976 graduate of Atlantic High School. She was employed by Peninsula Regional Medical Center for several years.
On June 19, 1982 Gloria united in holy matrimony with Larry W. Handy, and their union was blessed with two children. She loved and cherished her family, and enjoyed cooking for family gatherings.
Gloria was a faithful member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Women’s Choir, chairperson of the finance committee, and would serve in any capacity that was needed.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, David Miller, Sr., Donald Miller, Shirley Miller Drummond, and John C. Miller.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband of thirty-five years, Larry W. Handy of Atlantic, VA; two daughters, Nisheka Handy of Brooklyn, NY and Jessica Handy of Atlantic, VA; three grandchildren, Jayla, Jermaine, and Jersi, all of Atlantic, VA; godson, CJ Savage of Philadelphia, PA; brothers, Brodus Miller, Jr., Charles Miller, Jerry Williams, all of Atlantic, VA, and Martin (Mary) Miller of New Church, VA; sisters, Dottie (James) Sample of Willingsboro, NJ and Gale Lankford of Crisfield, MD; special niece, Gwendolyn Shockley of Wattsville, VA; mother-in-law, Emma Howard of Pocomoke, MD; brothers-in-law, Willie Howard of Wilmington, DE and Milton Howard of Glen Burnie, MD; and a host of other relatives and friends.
