Obituary for Donald Ray Winters

Donald Ray  Winters
Donald Ray Winters, 86 of Logan departed this life Thursday November 30 at Cabell Huntington Hospital at Huntington, WV.

He was born May 12, 1931 at Logan to the late Harold Winters and Virginia Hale Winters. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by: his brother, C. Thomas Winters; and his granddaughter, Jennifer Booten.

Mr. Winters was employed as a Conductor with C&O Railroad for 44 years and was the Owner of Winter’s Heating and Colling. He was formerly Superintendent and Trustee of both West Logan Church of God and Ferrellsburg Church of God. Mr. Winters was also a Veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War and he was a 32nd Degree Mason.

Those left to cherish his memory include: his loving Wife of 56 years, Bess Winters; Son, Ricky Lee (Fiance Brenda) Winters; Daughter, Donetta (Ken) Winters Wilcox; Grandchildren, Jeremy (Mary Ellen) Winters, Madison Wilcox, and Winter Wilcox; Great-Grandchild, Lawson Winters; Brothers, Dan (Mary) Winters and Jack (Bonnie) Winters; Sisters, Susan Karp and Nancy Mixon. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday December 4 at Akers-James Funeral Home at Logan with Rev. Carl White officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.

Friends and family may call from 6 – 9 p.m. Sunday December 3 also at the funeral home.
