Di Profio, Pietro “Peter”
(May 17, 1950-Dec. 1, 2017) With heavy hearts the family announces the death of Pietro L. Di Profio who passed away Friday, December 1, 2017 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Pre-deceased by his parents Maria Celli and Domenico Di Profio. He was born in Civitaquana, P. Pescara, Italy on May 17, 1950 and emigrated to Canada in April 1968. He is survived by his loving wife Anna Maria (nee Paluzzi) and by the pride of his life, his sons Luca Di Profio of Timmins and Andrea Di Profio of Toronto, his sister-in-law Jo-Anne Paluzzi (Gianfranco Berlingeri). Pre-deceased by his special aunt Alda Purificati and also survived by his special uncle Italo Celli (wife Augusta), by his cousins Vince Purificati and Louis Celli and lifelong friends in Italy; Mario and Giovanna Bianchi & Estera and Gabrielle Trancanella. Pietro had a long working career as a certified welder and licensed millwright. He retired from Kidd Mine in 2006. Peter loved his trades and returned to work even after his cancer diagnosis working for Levert at Kidd Mine, Detour, Lakeshore Gold and even in the Dominican Republic. Work was his therapy. He was exceptionally talented mechanically and was able to fix anything. He was a lifetime member of the Porcupine Dante Club, having served as Italian Secretary and on the executive and was a member of the Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) as well as being with the Timmins Mine Rescue for over 30 years. Our sincere thanks to the staff of Health Sciences North Emergency and 4th Floor Medical Depts. for the excellent care they gave Peter, To the staff of the Daffodil Lodge who went above and beyond to accommodate us and to Dr.s Mocanu, Chiang and Bowen of HSN our heartfelt thanks, Thank you to Dr. John Chisholm for the excellent and compassionate care in emergency,Thank you to Marnie Chisholm N.P, and Nancy Metsala R.N. from CCAC, Thank you also to the RN's from Bayshore for their professionalism and compassion in meeting Peter's needs, Thank you to the nurses on the Medical and Hospice Departments at TDH in the manner in which you assisted Peter during his last week, A special thank you to Dr.'s Morgan, Quirion and Schwertfeger at TDH,Last but not least a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Judy Gillies for the special care given to all our family in our time of need. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from Sacred Heart Church. (Fr. John Lemire officiating) Interment Timmins Memorial Cemetery. Remembrance donations to the Timmins & District Hospital Hospice Center or to Prostate Cancer Canada would be appreciated. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 4, 2017 from 3 -7 p.m. at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins, ON.
