Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma, 918-786-2261. Warren Grant Brower of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2017 at the age of 96. He was born on September 30,1921 in Greenfield Oklahoma to Myrtie (Awtrey) and Roy Brower and was raised in Oklahoma City along with his four brothers. From an early age, Warren enjoyed working with his hands and in his youth became an apprentice to his Dad, who was a cabinetmaker and contractor.

After High School at Northwest Classen, Warren enlisted in the Army, and in World War II, was assigned to Company B, 605 Tank Destroyer Battalion, 5th Armored Division, 9th Army where he fought in the brutal winter ground war in France Upon returning to the U.S., Warren married Virginia Wilson, started a family and began to build Brower Construction in Oklahoma City. Through the 50’s and into the 60’s Brower Construction focused on commercial and residential projects in Oklahoma City - many of which still stand today. In 1966 Warren met and married his second wife Verdia “Pete” Conner and along with his venture partners, began one of his most ambitious development projects called Whispering Hills near lake Thunderbird. Then in 1976, Warren and Pete moved to Grand Lake where he took over development of a lake front residential community. Warren established Brower Construction in Grove with the completion of several churches and commercial buildings as well as many lakefront homes in the 80’s and 90’s.

Warren and Pete were married for 50 years and had a very active personal and social life. Warren was a life long member of the Baptist Church serving as a leader at Northwest Baptist Church and later serving with the First Baptist Church of Grove. Warren was active in both Oklahoma City and Grove civic and business groups and served as Past Master W.M. of Amity Masonic Lodge #473 in Oklahoma City, Past Master W.M. of Grove Masonic Lodge #187, Past President of Kiwanis in Grove, Lieutenant Governor of Kiwanis Division 27 in Oklahoma, and Past President of the India Shrine Bowling Unit in Oklahoma City. For those who knew him well, Warren was fond of pecan pie, Dr. Pepper and the famous Oklahoman, Will Rogers.
In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death by his wife, Verdia “Pete” Brower, children of the late Virginia Kemp; Thelma Simpson, Donald Brower, Larry Brower, and Sharon Whittet and his brothers; Leroy, Kenneth, Conrad, and Vaughn.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda (Ronald) Brandt, Daughter-in-Law, Elizabeth Brower and sons, Darrell (Susan) Brower, David (Lena) Brower, Charles (Wendy) Brower and Son-in-Law, Don Simpson, 19 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-7 pm, Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home. A memorial service will take place at the First Baptist Church of Grove, Oklahoma, at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2017.
