Obituary for John E Bullard

BARRE- John E. Bullard,85, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 4, 2017 in Quaboag Rehab and Skilled Care Center.

He leaves 3 daughters Deborah Sampson of Oakham, Michelle Metcalf of North Brookfield, Jacqueline Catino & her husband Rick of Worcester; 5 grandchildren Kirsten McEvoy & her husband Jacob, Nathan Metcalf, Megan Langelier, Roger Sampson and Alexa Catino; 5 great grandchildren Logan and Avery McEvoy, Brandi and Emmalee Metcalf, and Norah Kendall. He was predeceased by 4 sisters Barbara, Edna, Gladys, Dorothy and 4 brothers Walter, Ralph, Ed, Karl.

John was born in Oakham, MA the son of the late Edwin and Florence (Edson) Bullard. John graduated from the former Barre High school and earned his masters degree in Administration from Worcester State College, where he was also captain of the baseball team. John was a teacher at the North Brookfield High School, Quabbin Regional High School and later was principal for the East Brookfield Elementary School until he retired. Coaching many sports over the years he was known as "Coach" to many of the students.

John loved golf and could be found on any given day at any golf course through out the state. He played in the US open for seniors and also winning many tournaments. He was a proud member of the "hole in one" club twice. He also loves skiing, hunting, fishing or just spending time outdoors. He also loved reading always saying it was his first love. Most of all he loved his family and friends. John's family would like to thank his dear friends Bob and June for their constant visits, friendship, and goodies. His daughters would like to thank the staff at Quaboag for becoming John's second family during the last few years.

To honor John's memory read a great book, take a walk in the woods, or hit a bucket or golf balls and SMILE.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11am in Pillsbury Funeral Home 96 S.Barre Rd. Barre. A calling hour will be held from 10-11am prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Oakham. For an online tribute please visit: Pillsburyfuneralhome.com
