Graveside services for Marjorie McKinney, 85, of Albuquerque, will be held at 2:00 PM, Sat., Dec. 9, 2017 in the Causey Cemetery with Leroy Thomas officiating. Family and friends will be honorary pallbearers. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
Marjorie Inez McKinney was born Sept. 30, 1932 in Portales to the home of Nola (Lee) and Floyd Grant Judah, and died Dec. 5, 2017 in Albuquerque.
Ms McKinney, a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, was a member of the Netherwood congregation in Albuquerque at the time of her death. In May of 1949, in Houston, TX, she was married to William McKinney. The couple had three children together, two sons and a daughter, before divorcing after 14 years of marriage. Ms McKinney worked as a service assistant for Mountain Bell Telephone Co. for 30 years before retiring. She was always very active in her church, and consistently volunteered to help with the annual Albuquerque Balloon Festival. She was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers, and served as Shop Steward with the Communications Workers of America.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and L. Warner Nicholson of Richland Hills, TX; her five grandchildren, Ryan (Natalie) Nicholson, Cynthia Nicholson, Deborah (Allen) Mosley, Danielle (Blas) Canedo and Jennifer McKinney; eight great-grandchildren, Grant, Cole, Nola and Ellie Nicholson, Bryce, Barret and Josie Mosley and also Jennifer's daughter, and there is a ninth grandchild, Camille Canedo who will be born in May; a brother, F. G. Judah, Jr. of Benson, AZ; a sister, Evelyn (Bunch) E. Faulkenberry of Clovis; as well as eleven nieces and nephews and numerous other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Iona Hartin and two sons, William E. McKinney and Patrick G. McKinney.
