Obituary for Stanley Robert Burdey

Stanley Robert Burdey
STANLEY ROBERT BURDEY September 8, 1935 - December 1, 2017 Peacefully on December 1, 2017 Stanley Burdey passed away at Oakview Personal Care Home, with his beloved wife Laurie at his side. He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Laurie; children Darrell, Corry, Lynda (Ed), Bob and Ginny; sister Patricia Winter (Garry, predeceased); grandchildren Grace, Jack, Olivia, Rebecca, Gregory, Rowan and Nathan; sister-in-law Bea Burdey (Ron, predeceased), sister-in-law Helen Burdey (Ken, predeceased), brother-in-law Albert Brossart (Donna), and sister-in-law Verna Wood-Johannesson (Don, predeceased), as well as many nieces and nephews. Stan was predeceased by his parents William and Mary, and brothers Ken in 2016, and Ron just this past October. We take comfort in the thought of them being together again. Stan was born in Winnipeg and raised in Brooklands. He was a fun-loving, gregarious young man always surrounded by friends. He began work at the young age of 15 at Dominion Bridge, and worked in various trades until finally retiring in 1999 from Green Acres Funeral Home. This was his favourite job, he took great pride in his work and enjoyed working alongside Laurie. His most cherished role in life however, was that of grandfather, which brought him immense joy and was evident in the deep love he felt for his grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave., (204) 949-2200 (across from Brookside Cemetery). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
