Age 71 of White Bear Lake
“You betcha!” –Erv

Erv was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on February 11, 1946. He was one of four children to Henrietta Annabelle (nee Sand) and Ervin Henry Hinrichs. He attended Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis and was drafted into the United States Army after his graduation. Erv served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged upon his return to the U.S. He attended courses at the Dunwoody Institute and Normandale College. While working at Delkor Systems Inc., he met the love of his life, Donna Moehrle. The two were married in Minneapolis on December 17, 1978, and moved to White Bear Lake to raise their family. They had five children: Jonah, Aaron, Mary, Michael and Melissa. After his time at Delkor, he began working as a sheet metal worker with Micro Control Company. When he was not working, you could find Erv golfing. He was a member of a men’s league with Oak Glen Golf Course for more than 31 years. In high school, he was quite the athlete. He played football, baseball, wrestling and hockey. His love for sports continued throughout his life. He was an avid hockey fan and enjoyed watching his kids, nieces, and nephews play. He even coached hockey for a few years and umpired softball/baseball games. His family was the most important thing to him. When the kids were younger, he would try to take them on camping trips to state parks. They loved to road trip and set up tents to go camping. At home, he was very organized and meticulous with his car care and maintenance. Erv enjoyed listening to music and watching his favorite television shows (NCIS, Criminal Minds, or Two and a Half Men). Erv was a very friendly and social guy who could have a conversation with anyone. He was always smiling and would respond with his typical Minnesota response of, “You betcha.” Erv passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henrietta and Ervin Hinrichs; his brothers, Harvey and Darrel Hinrichs; and his son, Aaron Hinrichs. He will be dearly missed by his wife of almost 40 years, Donna Hinrichs of White Bear Lake; his children, Jonah Hinrichs of White Bear Lake, Mary Hinrichs of White Bear Lake, Michael (Jessi) Hinrichs of White Bear Lake, and Melissa Hinrichs of Vadnais Heights; his granddaughter, Olivia Hinrichs (6 and a half years old); his grandson, Hudson Hinrichs (3 months old); his sister, Darlene (Michael) Kratt of Grasston; his sister-in-law, Andrea Hinrichs; his mother-in-law, Mary Moehrle; his sisters-in-law, Mairanne (Dellis) Lenz and Karen (Cadex) Herrera; brothers-in-law, Tom Moehrle and Pat (Renee) Moehrle; and many other family and friends. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 10AM to 12PM on Saturday, December 16, 2017 with a service at 12PM at the funeral home. The service will be followed by committal prayers at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Cemetery in White Bear Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family.
