Joann (McDonald) Smidansky age 86 of North Huntingdon died Thursday, December 7, 2017 in Hempfield Manor, Greensburg. She was born April 1, 1931 in Jeannette to the late Charles Bartholomew and Barbara Regina (Jacob) McDonald. Joann was at one time employed as a secretary for Prudential Insurance Company in Jeannette and Greensburg. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church and its Confraternity of Christian Mothers as well as a member of the Oak Hollow Y.M.C.A. Joann enjoyed her family and loved to play bingo at the Oak Hollow Y.M.C.A., loved playing bridge and card club with her sisters and was a volunteer at St. Agnes School Cafeteria. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by two brothers, Charles Vincent and Louis James McDonald; sisters Virginia Ruth Burgun and Barbara “Babs” Rose Highlands and three infant siblings. Surviving is her husband of 63 years James Smidansky. Three children; Charles Smidansky of Greensburg, Mary Ann Silverio and fiancée Shawn McHugh of Bridgeville and Diane Marker and her husband Scott Sr. of Greensburg. Five grandchildren; Alan and his wife Leah Silverio, Julie Silverio, Samuel Smidansky, Kelley Smidansky and Scott Marker Jr. Sister’s Mary “Eileen” DePalma of Jeannette and Anna Louise “Nancy” Dunbar of Buffalo NY as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Ott Funeral Home, Inc. 805 Pennsylvania Ave, Irwin. Parting prayers will be held at 9:00 am on Monday in the funeral home followed by a 9:30 am Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
