SPRINGFIELD- William Lawrence Taylor, 87, of Springfield passed peacefully on December 11, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. William, son of the late Willie and Lucy (Williams) Taylor, was born in Louisburg, NC on October 5, 1930. William worked as a bus driver for Peter Pan where he retired in 1998 after 50 years of faithful service. He was a member of the Suez Temple #114, the Sumner Lodge #5, and Alden Baptist Church. William enjoyed telling stories of his youth and the travels he has made through his time as a bus driver for Peter Pan. Above all, he loved to spend time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Taylor; and his sisters, Lucille Covington, Sally Davis, Lillian Brody, and Ernestine Richardson. William will be missed by all who knew him, including his beloved wife of 66 years, Dora (Davis) Taylor; his daughters, Velma Taylor of Springfield, and Corene Thomas of Lynn; his brothers, James Taylor and his wife Annie Belle of N.C., and John Taylor of Middlebury MA; his granddaughters, Jennifer Lee and Dory Welch; his great grandson, Quincy Jones; and many extended family members and friends. Visiting Hours for William will be held Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 1PM to 3PM at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield MA. Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 18, 2017 at Sampson’s at 10AM followed by a Funeral Home Service beginning at 11AM. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker Street, Springfield.
