Ronald Glen Miner of Plainwell passed away December 13, 2017 at Wings Home, Allegan. Ron was born August 1, 1937 in Allegan; the son of Laurel and Thelma (Clawson) Miner. A 1956 graduate of Hopkins High School, Ron married Elaine Groen in 1960 and their children and spouses are: Rory Miner of Delton, Renee (Steven) Beckwith and Gary (Jennifer) Miner, both of Kalamazoo. Ron has ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Elaine preceded him in death in 1991. A loyal employee of Consumers Energy for over thirty one years, Ron was a meter reader and substation operator. As time allowed, Ron volunteered helping family and friends with numerous projects. Ron enjoyed fixing things and he was involved with many church activities and he was also a 4-H leader for several years. In 1994, Ron married Sally (Dewey) Gay who survives along with her children and their spouses: Michael (Serena) Gay of Augusta, Greg Gay and Traver (Samantha) Gay, both of Delton, eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Ron is also survived by brothers and sisters in law: Laurel (Betty) Miner of Otsego, John (Karen) Miner of Paw Paw, Max (Phyllis) Miner of Allegan, Bruce (Bonnie) Miner of Delton, David Miner (special friend: Nancy Becman) of Schoolcraft, and Sally’s brothers and sisters: Dave (Jane) Dewey, Susan (John) Edwards, Mary Jo (Dave) Whitaker and Tom (Rose) Dewey, and many other beloved family members and friends. At Ron’s request cremation has taken place.
Ron’s family will receive friends Saturday, December 23, 2017, 10:00 - 11:00 AM at Haven Church, 5350 N Sprinkle Road, Kalamazoo, where Ron’s memorial celebration will be conducted at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Wings of Hope Hospice, Haven Church or Shalom Inc. will be appreciated.
