Condolence: I had the honor of visiting Jo on several different occasions with her brother, Al. She was always extremely warm and friendly toward me. I really admired her strength and character which were immediately apparent.

Condolence: My sincerely condolences for your lost. My name may not be familiar to you. I am the daughter of Alice and Charlie Pugh who were dear friends and activists with Jo in Peace and Justice groups (Pax Christi, Agape, Haley House, St. Jerome's. St. Eulalia's). Jo really understood my Mother especially: as a 3-D woman, a mother, and as a deeply committed christian who saw each person as worthy of respect and unconditional love and they shared a passion for Peace and Justice. Jo was unpretentious, strong, kind, insightful and outspoken, "salt of the earth" ( as the saying goes). After my mother's death in 2002, Jo and Claudia visited my father weekly for years while he lived at an assisted living. This was an extreme act of kindness that you would not be surprised to hear - it was such an example of how wonderful and loving Jo was, never expecting thanks or gratitude. She has our deep gratitude. Jo has greatly enriched our lives.
