Obituary for Roy Dean McAlpine
ROY DEAN McALPINE
Roy Dean McAlpine, 78, of Kingston, died peacefully Sunday, December 17, 2017 in United Hospice of Marlette Residence Center, Marlette. He was born July 17, 1939 at home in Kingston to John Andrew and Mary Melissa (Randall) McAlpine. He married Margaret Ann Cottrell May 6, 1961 in Caro.
Roy attended Kingston High School until 1957. He was employed by Snow Screw Products as a machinist retiring after 38 years. Roy liked to tinker especially with small engines. His family fondly remembers his green thumb and his ability to grow bountiful potatoes and vegetables in his garden. Roy and Margaret enjoyed spending summers visiting and sight-seeing in Marquette. He loved the company of his family and helping to raise his grandchildren.
Roy is survived by his wife, Margaret; their children: Roy James (LaDonna) McAlpine of Kingston; Ann (Arthur Berlin) McAlpine of Kingston; Christopher Griffus of Kingston; Sabrina (Tim Seid) Griffus of Kingston; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister, Ruby Piechotte of Caro; sister-in-law, Jan McAlpine of Clifford; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Richard “Pete” McAlpine, Ralph McAlpine.
