Obituary for Myles Patrisha Goldin

Myles Patrisha Goldin
Beloved friend, daughter, teacher and performer extraordinaire, Myles Patrisha Goldin died of breast cancer in her home on Tuesday, December 19, 2017. She died in the care and presence of her dear friends and family. Myles was born in Phoenix, Ariz., on September 24, 1969, and grew up in Winter Park, Fla. As a child, she discovered a deep love and aptitude for the theater, which became a driving source of passion and joy throughout her life, leading her to earn a BA in theater from Florida State in the early 1990s, and an MFA in Contemporary Performance from Naropa University in 2008. Over the years, Myles lived in New York City, Seattle, Lake City, Colo., and in Boulder, where she worked as an actor and massage therapist, performing and teaching regularly while developing skills in improvisational theater and red nose clowning. In addition, she was an accomplished martial artist, with a black belt in jiu-jitsu.

A resident of Boulder since 2006, Myles was a dynamic member of the community. She performed, supported and collaborated in numerous shows at the Boulder International Fringe Festival, and was a member of several improv teams in Boulder and Denver, including A Fine Bromance, Onesy, Yard Sale, and ONE ACT, which performed at the Chicago Improv Festival in 2013. She also developed and taught the introductory curriculum for the Boulder Improv Collaborative. Her latest projects included The Presence Academy, a coaching business for public speaking and improvisation; co-founding Benevolent Camera, a film company; and an original clown show addressing our challenging times with heartfelt humor.

Myles brought exquisite artistic sensibilities, a brilliant sense of humor, and immense playfulness to everything she did. Her laughter and loving heart will be missed in this world. She is survived by her mother Suzan Goldin, her father Fred Goldin, and a legion of friends, students and fans. A celebration of life will be held on March 24, 2018 at 6:00pm at Wesley Chapel in Boulder, Colo. Donations in her memory can be made to Boulder County Arts Alliance.
