Mrs. Mary Frances Blackwell Young, beloved daughter of the late Luther and Gertha Dora Williams Chambers, was born in Rowan County on January 27, 1945. She peacefully entered unto eternal rest on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, following an extended illness.
She attended the Rowan County Schools and received her Food Service Sanitation Certificate on August 18, 1977, at Mitchell Community College. She was a member of Faith Deliverance for Jesus where she served on numerous committees and was a Missionary. She was a member of Bristol Road Senior Citizens. She was united in marriage to William McClelland Young, who preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, a stepdaughter, Wilma Rucker of Statesville; two god daughters, Patricia Rucker and Kathy Lackey, both of Statesville; five grandchildren including Curtis Lee Rucker; two great grandchildren , Quaylee O’Brian Rucker and Jeanetta Rucker; two brothers, Jimmy Williams and Johnny Williams; five sisters-in-law, Overseer Virginia (Bishop Joe) Byers of Troutman, Evangelist Lucille Moten of Mooresville, Evangelist Melva (Richard) Norman and Evangelist Barbara Young, both of Statesville; two brothers-in-law, Apostle Teross (Co-Pastor Minnie) Young of Hickory and Howard (Arlene) Young of Jacksonville, FL; a host of aunts and uncles including, Nancy Lee Chambers of Augusta, Ga., Ola May Williams of Hickory and Lola Ann Chambers of Statesville; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, David Fox, Gail Wilson and Stephanie Wilson; other relatives, dear friends and her nurse and caretaker, Elaine Bowman.
