Tracy DeWitt Hill, born August, 10th 1970, passed from this life on December 21st, 2017. Tracy graduated from Berea Community High School in 1988, and attended the University of Kentucky. Later she graduated from Kaufman Beauty School in Lexington, and went on to become an instructor. Tracy made a career shift to technology beginning at Berea Community School where she was the Technology Coordinator. Eventually, she joined Extreme Networks where she orchestrated the K-12 sales team and helped bring technological advancement to school systems all across the country.
Tracy was the proud mother to three sons. Christopher, age 26, lives in Bellingham, Washington and is the Theatrical Technical Director and Production Manager at Western Washington University. Baylor, age 16, is a junior at Berea Community High School and kept Tracy busy at the football field. Jonah, age 9, kept her busy with his music lessons, acting, friends and activities. Tracy’s husband of 19 years, Darryl, is a special education teacher at Berea Community High School. The two met at college and married a few years later.
Family dedication was central to Tracy’s life. She was happiest when taking care of her family and loved cooking dinner every night. She was a daily part of her parent’s life because they had fun and worked well together, whether they were changing the belts on the lawnmower or shopping for everything under the sun. Many would describe Tracy as generous and caring as demonstrated by the way she cared for her father-in-law in their home to the end of his life. Westside Baptist Church was home to Tracy and her family and one way she supported the church was as AV services volunteer.
Tracy was well loved and has lifelong friends who will miss her smile and laughter. She was a supportive sister and friend. She was a frequent blood donor, loved to read, dance and travel and could quote “Friends” unfailingly. Her beauty and strength, inside and out, will always be an inspiration to those who knew her. Tracy will continue to bless others through the gift of organ donation.
A memorial service will take place on December 27, 2017 at 7 pm at Westside Baptist Church in Berea. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm also at the church. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Tracy can be made to The Family Resource Center 3 Pirate Parkway, Berea, KY 40403 or Westside Baptist Church for Audio Visual equipment.
