GySgt Roy Burns Argo, 93, of Albany, passed away Friday, December 22, 2017 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services honoring his life of service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, December 28, 2017 in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home. Incryptment will follow in the Crown Hill Mausoleum. His brother, Stanley Argo will officiate and military honors will be presented at Crown Hill.
Born October 16, 1924 in Hawkinsville, Mr. Argo was the son of the late Russell and Gladys Piper Argo. A retired veteran with the United States Marine Corps, Mr. Argo served in World War II and The Korean Conflict. He was wounded in both wars and received two purple hearts and several other metals. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Putney. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He never met a stranger and his life of love for his family and service for his country will never be forgotten.
Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Dorothy Porter Argo; children, Deborah Simpson of Albany, Grady Wilson (LaRae) Argo of Mulberry, FL and David Russell Argo of Albany; sisters, Esther (Bentley) Spinks and Barbara (Darrell) Parker; brother, Stanley (Patricia) Argo; 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.
