Charlene Ruth Vander Kooi Ten Broek, 74, of Louisburg departed this earthly life on Saturday, December 23, 2017. She was born in Zeeland, MI on March 12, 1944 to the late Albert James and Anna Mae De Young Vander Kooi. In addition to her parents, Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Ten Broek.

Mrs. Ten Broek was a teacher and truly loved kids, whether they were her kids, grandkids, or her school kids. She was an outgoing and strong woman, who put the needs of others first. Charlene was a caring and faithful wife and mother for many years. She was a skilled and avid Bingo player.

The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30pm on Thursday, December 28,2017 at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Blvd, Louisburg, NC 27549 Funeral service will be held Friday, December 29, 2017, at 2:00 pm at Victory Baptist Church, 475 J.B. Taylor Rd., Henderson, NC with Pastor Ricky Easter officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

She is survived by her daughter, Tracey Finch (Timothy); her sons, Chris Ten Broek (Amy) and Timothy Ten Broek (Alex); and her nine grandchildren, Hannah, Meagan, Morgan, Timothy, Sierra, Mason, Nate, Ariel, and Evelyn. Also surviving are her brother, Dave Vander Kooi (Bonnie); and her sister, Jan Mulder (Ron)
