Obituary for Mabre Bryan (Meade)

Mabre Meade Bryan, 93 years of age, of Baltimore, Maryland passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Misericordia Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, York, PA.

She was a devoted wife and mother and devoted member of the Church of Christ in the Baltimore area where she taught the Bible for many years. She was a retired retail associate from Hochschild-Kohn.

Mabre was born October 20, 1924 in Pikeville, KY, the daughter of the late Crate Meade, Sr., and Gipsy Porter Meade who lived in Boldman, KY.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Wilson Bryan on October 16, 1996; by three brothers, Benny Roy Meade, Crate Samuel Meade, Jr., and Charles Meade; and by five sisters, Aretta Bryan, Dortha Williams, Zella Robarts, Patsy Harmon and Lois Lee Meade.

Mabre is survived by three sons, Edwin D. Bryan (and his wife, Sylvia of Harleton, PA) living in York, PA, Melvin N. Bryan (and his wife, Veronica of Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas, Ecuador) living in Owensboro KY, and Gary Bryan living in Federal Way, WA.

Also, she is survived by two sisters; Murlene “Murl” Haggerty of Horseshoe Bend, AR and Mary Ann Atkins of New Market, VA.

She is also survived by four grandchildren, Joseph W. Bryan living in Baltimore, MD, Scott L. Bryan (and his wife, Heather of Carlisle, PA) living in Ellicott City, MD, Sheridan “Sheri” I Bryan and Steven N. Bryan living in Maceo, KY.

A remembrance will be held privately among family with a burial at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, Timonium, MD. Cards and letters to the Bryan family may be sent in care of the funeral home in remembrance of the life of Mabre Bryan. Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., is in charge of arrangements.
